The Magic of Musical Wicked is Captivating Audiences Across the Country

Wicked is one of the only Broadway shows to make back all of its investment money after only 14 months of production. This musical originally debuted in October of 2003, and is still mesmerizing audiences to this day. Many new actors, along with many familiar faces, have debuted in Wicked, . Audiences from around the country are magically drawn into this story as if it were their own.

Wicked is a story about witches and magic; however, it manages to engage the audience in a way that is much more than magical. Broadway enthusiasts are absorbed in the story as it is one that they identify from their own personal experiences. Elphaba faces much scrutiny throughout the story, as she was different than the rest; this part of the story alone makes it personal to audiences.

Elphaba’s experiences throughout the storyline are realistic and mold her into who she is by the end of the story. Spectators of this fascinating musical cannot help but reflect on their own personal roller coasters, and realize that they are who they are because of the ups and downs that life has brought their way.

Making her first Broadway debut, Marcie Dodd has taken on the lead role in Wicked - Elphaba. Musical Wicked Tickets Take You To A World Of Fantasy

The spectacular musical “Wicked” is based on the novel “Wicked: the Life and Times of the Wicked Witches of the West” by Gregory Maguire. He creates a fantasy world where animals talk and there are many imaginary characters like the Munchkins. He makes it all sound so real and vivid. The main story is based on the Wicked Witches of the famous novel “The Wizard of Oz”.

The story deals with the witches lives much before Dorothy arrives in Oz. The protagonist is Elphaba, a little girl with green skin who grows up to become the Wicked Witch of the West. The Wizard believes that Elphaba is a wicked witch and makes everyone believe him. The truth is that she is just a smart little girl who has been greatly misunderstood. She shows the audience a whole new concept of good and evil. The Wizard due to his beliefs eventually leads the little green girl to become the Wicked Witch. Glinda, the Good Witch, is beautiful and is considered to be much superior. The meeting of Glinda and Elphaba starts the play.

The characters of the play are mostly the same as the ones in the Wizard of Oz. You have the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and the Wizard himself. The play contains simplified parts of the novel and is not the entire story of the novel. It is a spectacular show of colorful costumes, lovely music and humorous dialogues. Musical Wicked in San Francisco Tickets

Wicked, musical with songs & lyric by American composer Stephen Schwartz made a premier show from 27-30 January 2009 in San Francisco. This enchanting musical performance once again made a show after the last year successful performance in Melbourne, Australia. Stephen Schwartz adopted this musical when in 1995; he discovered Gregory Maguire Novel and he immediately realized its greatness. The amazing music and lyric by Stephen Schwartz made this show a must see! The impressive costumes, staging and direction have gained Wicked an international recognition since its first show in 1993.

The Los Angeles production of Wicked has transferred to the Bay Area city, but casting has not been set. The Los Angeles production opened in February 2007 and grossed over $1.9 million during the week ending December 30, 2007. Wicked San Francisco audiences are sure to embrace this internationally-renowned production with equal enthusiasm.

Back to San Francisco

2009 will be the home coming year of Wicked San Francisco, because this year, the show will be held at Orpheum Theatre, San Francisco, and the city where it all began. A great homecoming party was held on September 2008. The show was performed for the first time in San Francisco, California. It has been the home of Broadway production of wicked since 2003. San Francisco and the Wicked musical show have an inseparable relationship, which seems likely to continue forever.

The opening of pre-Broadway tour of Wicked San Francisco was held at Curran Theatre. The 2003 Wicked San Francisco show cast was Idina Menzel, who acted Elphaba, Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda the good witch, and Robert Morse as The Wizard Of Oz. The designer of this musical was Eugene Lee, which made the design based on original illustration by W.W. Denslow’s in L. Frank Baum’s classical story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Susan Hilferty the costume designer, created not less than 200 beautifully made costumes, and the lightning designer Kenneth Posner made more than 800 superb lights to set the mood of the show aglow. Musical Wicked London Owns the UK

Wicked, the musical that enjoyed such success in the U.S., has finally gone international. Wicked debuted overseas in London, UK on September 27, 2006. It is called Wicked London, as the show was altered slightly for its British audience. According to audience response, the changes have done nothing but enhance this production. Most tours of this production are changed at least slightly for its various audiences. Examples of the changes made to London’s show include special effects, choreography and some minor dialogue changes. Audiences rave about this show which has done nothing but break box office records since it arrived overseas.

The Apollo Victoria Theatre has been Wicked London’s home since 2006 and still going strong. The Theatre has fully embraced Wicked London so much so that there are green and pink cocktails and even green and pink hand lotions and soap in the restrooms. To further honor Wicked London, the Apollo Victoria Theatre has been decorated green.

The Wicked play is an adaptation of the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witches of the West, authored by Gregory Maguire. It is commonly referred to as the stage version of Wicked that is a ‘contemporized’ adaptation.

According to the broadway musical play the stage adapter named Winnie Holzman has unveiled Elpha as the main character, i.e. the Wicked Witch of the West, who though is a smart witch but very misapprehended. She has been portrayed as a typical witch that has green colored skin. In total comparison to her is the good witch named Glinda, who is beautiful to look at but in some ways a little stuck up. With the commencement of the play the audience is presented with encounters between the two witches in the Land of Oz. this play is now being featured in the adapted version.
